About Joe Gonzalez

I teach people to become better observers of their own bodies.

Portrait of Joe Gonzalez, Sensory Remapping Coach, in Manhattan

I came to movement through mechanical engineering at MIT, martial arts, and a stubborn interest in why a cue works for one person and does nothing for another.

Science in service of simpler coaching.

Over the last ten years, I have coached people through problems that did not change with the usual approach. Under a mentor, I studied neuroscience and psychoanalytic research alongside the practical work.

That training gave me a way to connect what a person feels, what their nervous system predicts, and what their body does next. But sessions are not lectures. I use the science to make the coaching simpler.

The goal is not for you to get better at following my instructions. It is for you to get better at teaching yourself.

We find the missing sensory information, test what changes when you can feel it, and build from there.

I coach remotely with clients anywhere and in person in Manhattan. The process is the same because the important equipment is already with you: your attention, your nervous system, and your ability to learn.

Martial arts

Taught me that understanding a movement and embodying it are different skills.

Mechanical engineering

Taught me to care about the model.

Coaching

Taught me that the person in front of me matters more than either one.

My title is Sensory Remapping Coach. I chose “coach” deliberately. I do not diagnose or practice physical therapy. I teach a process you can use long after the session ends.
